Cryptosmith

Here are educational videos focusing on cybersecurity and cryptography. There are three sets: Coursera, Grade School Crypto, and Cryptosmith.

Coursera Videos

The most thoroughly developed videos appear in my 16-week online course Cybersecurity in the Cloud, developed for the University of Minnesota and hosted by Coursera. Many were based on the Cryptosmith video series noted below.

Grade School Crypto Videos

The two Grade School Crypto videos give a short introduction to basic cryptographic concepts using text-based crypto examples. The videos illustrate encryption, decryption, ciphers, keys, algorithms, code cracking, cryptanalysis, and letter frequency analysis. 

Cryptosmith Video Series

This video series uses animation to teach basic cryptographic concepts. Grade School Crypto is an older series that introduces text-based cryptography.

These videos are posted on Vimeo.com under Cryptosmith. They are collected in the Cryptosmith video album.

Migrating and Archiving Videos

The entire Internet is ephemeral. Many of the videos here, notably the Cryptosmith series, are hosted on a paid Vimeo account. These may remain online, depending on Vimeo policies, or they may be removed.

The Grade School Crypto videos have been migrated to this web site, which is more likely to keep them available.

I would like to host the Coursera videos on this site, too. This may depend on the storage requirements.
